welcome.

We’re so excited that we’ll be working together.

Our aim with every project is to create branding that works hard to support your business goals – designs that connect with your customer on a conscious and subconscious level.

We do this by using a blended approach of consumer behaviour knowledge, competitor research and top quality creative.

before we begin…

Before we get started, here’s a little information about how we work and what you can expect from this process.

1 I will challenge you.

It’s my job to create the strongest possible brand for you, and for this reason, it’s also my job to challenge you during the process.

The branding process can be intense, it can throw up questions about how you position your business and I may challenge you throughout the process to let go of certain aspects of your brand if I feel they are holding you back from appealing to your ideal customer.

  • Change can be tough, especially if you have a personal attachment to something such as a tagline, icon or particular colour for your brand, but I promise you that I will only recommend a change if I believe it is best for your brand and your business. You will get the most from the process if you can truly be open to a new direction.

Remember the reason you decided you needed a new brand image and stay focused on that.

Change is scary, but it also marks the beginning of a new chapter, and a new brand will breathe so much life into your business! You may find this blog post I wrote about change helpful.

2 It will be subjective.

Anything creative is subjective, and choosing a new logo for your business can feel deeply personal, so what happens if you don’t love the designs we come up with?

We have a system that is built with this in mind – we gain your approval at every stage, and if you’re unhappy with something we will make amends which means that before we even progress to design you will have seen and approved a brief and a moodboard.

  • We don’t offer unlimited amends for a reason – not only because of the time involved, but because we will always present you with what we feel is the strongest response to the brief that we can muster.

We will ask you to place the clients’ needs and tastes above your own. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t love your branding, but he most effective branding is a powerful business tool rather than a personal vanity project.

3 You’ll leave with a lot more than just branding.

Designing a logo is just part of it. No matter which of our packages you have chosen, we can guarantee you will gain valuable clarity about your brand during the process.

  • You will come out of this process not only with a full brand identity but with clarity and focus about your niche and how to position yourself in the marketplace.

My years in advertising means that I will always combine strategic thinking with design. I also work with some of the most skilled and experienced brand designers out there. Together this means that you are guaranteed to come out of this process with a professional, cohesive and – most importantly – considered brand identity.

You will now have a robust branding toolkit and professional level brand guideline with which to create assets for your business.

You also now have a team who perfectly understands your brand and mission, and you can return to us at any time for design, copy or marketing help.

Your Dedicated Project Team

We work in a pair for all branding projects, so you will always have at least two people on your team.

On projects that also include a website element, we also bring in a developer, so you have a team of three.

Once a designer has been assigned to your brand, wherever possible, they will continue to be your designer for any future projects with us, so you can know that if you work with us again, we already know your brand inside out.

The Process

How we’ll share designs

Whenever we are sharing work with you, we will share it both as a PDF for your review and as a video.

  • We do this to share our creative thinking, but with the benefit that you can watch it at a time that suits you, rather than having to schedule a call.

It also means that you can share the concepts with others to get their opinion. We just ask that you don’t distribute it too widely as it work-in-progress, after all!

How we’ll share designs

Unless we have created a custom proposal for you, all branding projects have five rounds of creative – that is, three rounds of incorporating your feedback.

  • This looks like:

    • Round 1 - Logo concepts, the initial ideas we have for your logo.

    • Round 2 – Your chosen concept from Round 1, designed in the style of the project moodboard.

    • Round 3 – Your preferred version from Round 2, with any feedback you have given us incorporated. At this stage we ask you to sign off the logo.

    • Round 4 – We share how this could roll out for your brand, with typography, imagery and colour palette.

    • Round 5 – The brand identity refined with your feedback from Round 4.

Approvals & Feedback

We’ll ask for your review & approval at each key stage of the process, in each case we need you to give us a decision or confirm your approval in writing.

  • To avoid confusion and wasting design time, we request all is consolidated into one list, and that for teams, a primary point of contact is decided upon rather than inviting different team members to feedback to us individually.

We use Loom videos to present work, alongside PDFs sent via email, and we welcome you to leave feedback for us in any of these three ways:

    • by commenting directly on the PDF

    • commenting on our Loom videos

    • simply sending feedback by email

Working Practice

  • My preferred communication method is via email. For all active clients, I will reply to your email within 48 hours at latest.

I present branding work via video using a platform called Loom.

This enables me to be able to share our thought process and present as if in person to you, but with two great benefits:
    1. It offers more flexibility than arranging a meeting, which keeps the creative process moving;
    2. It allows you as client to be able to replay it. You can even add your own comments and questions directly to videos, and I would encourage you to do this!

  • If you would like to speak on the phone or via a video call outside of the calls I set as part of your project, please schedule a call via this link.

This allows me to be able to plan my time more efficiently to work well across all projects.

If you would like me to look over a document before a call, please ensure you have emailed it over to me 24 hours before and make clear within your email that you’d like to me review the attachments.

If you require more than 1 hour of my time for calls per month outside of your package I recommend we book in some extra call time at a price of £140 per hour so that I can give you my full attention.
